God Is Our Safe Haven, A Place to rest our hearts

I was nearly sixteen years old when the following incident happened, and I can only remember fragments.

I was babysitting in one of the houses in my subdivision (houses in my subdivision were being built, at that time). I cannot remember who the parents of the child were, nor can I remember anything about the child. I do remember, playing one record on the record player, in their Livingroom, named: Bridge Over Troubled Water.

The house I was babysitting in was facing an open field, and it was nighttime, around 9:00 p.m. I remember opening the curtains to take a look out front when suddenly, I saw four Hispanic men jump out of their vehicle in front of the dumpster, which was located across the street from the house I was in. I remember running downstairs to the first floor (the Livingroom and Kitchen were located upstairs) and I locked the door to the garage. The next thing I remember was that it was morning; although, I can’t remember anything about spending the night such as going to bed, etc. I definitely, remember calling my dad the next morning from the house I was babysitting in. I remember telling him about the occurrence the night before while looking across the fields towards my house, out of their kitchen window.

I don’t feel like anything happened, but the fact that I can only remember fragments, “can be” worrisome, but “I choose to thank God for the day and the moment I have.” Valvano.

Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 (NIV)

Is there something in your life that you need peace about, today? God is only a prayer away.

“Father, just as my home provides refuge from the harmful elements outside, You are a refuge and a place to rest my heart. I am grateful for Your protection and for always being a place of peace to run to. I am adorned by Your grace and loving care in the seasons of my soul. You are my safe haven. All praise and glory to You.” In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
