God Is Our Safe Haven

I was nearly sixteen years old when the following incident happened, of which I can only remember fragments.

I was babysitting in one of the houses in my subdivision (houses in my subdivision were under construction at that time). I cannot remember who the parents of the child were, nor can I remember anything about the child. I do remember, playing one record on the record player, in their Livingroom, named: Bridge Over Troubled Water.

The house I was babysitting in was facing an open field, and it was nighttime, around 9:00 p.m. I remember opening the curtains to take a look out front when suddenly, I saw four Hispanic men jump out of their vehicle in front of the dumpster, which was located across the street from the house I was in. I remember running downstairs to the first floor (the Livingroom and Kitchen were located upstairs) and I locked the door to the garage. The next thing I remember was that it was morning; although, I can’t remember anything about spending the night such as going to bed, etc. I definitely, remember calling my dad the next morning from the house I was babysitting in. I remember telling him about the occurrence the night before, while looking across the fields towards my house, out of their kitchen window.

I don’t feel like anything happened, but the fact that I can only remember fragments, “can be” worrisome, but “I choose to thank God for the day and the moment I have.” – Valvano.

Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 (NIV)

If there something in your life that you need peace about, today? God is only a prayer away.

You are my soul and my spirit’s refuge. I am grateful to You for Your protection and for always being, for me, the place of peace for my soul. Thank You for Your Word which is spirit and life. Thank you, Jesus for dying in my place, providing my forgiveness and immortality. I thank You, Father for Your grace and peace upon my life, and for Your loving care. You are my safe haven. I ask You, Father to take under your wing of protection, all those who have read this blog, and meet their individual needs in such a way that only You will receive the glory. All praise and glory to God! In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
